Our New Concrete Mixer Planter by PROPS

The latest flowery feature for the Beaufort Arms is this venerable Concrete Mixer Planter by PROPS.

propslogo2015-x324wWith plants kindly donated by ‘Painted Tongues’ (based on the Westerleigh Road in South Gloucestershire), our resident team of horticulturalists from PROPS did a beautiful job planting it up.

Some ten years ago the mixer was used to build the house it now resides outside of – its Lister engine still works!

For all of you anoraks out there, the mixer was built locally by Stothert & Pitt Ltd, Engineers – Bath – England, Established 1820, the model is a ‘3 ½ T’ (3 ½ C.F.T. Mixed Capacity Tilting Mixer).

If anyone knows when it would have been built please let us know.

Huge thanks to all involved in making it happen, especially Tim from Watts & Watts Builders for storing the mixer and getting it on site.

The pictures are being displayed in the Beaufort Arms Art Gallery in the dining room of the pub where you’re free to come in and enjoy them.

See Sam painting on UTube.

Their last performance review was by Sheila Dillon (she presents Radio 4’s Food Programme & is generally deemed a bit iconic). She saw the Cradocks in the marquee at Food Connections on 29 April, loved it and Tweeted about it.  I’ve just pulled out her comments and here they are:-

“Brill theatre”

“What a great evening”

“What an experience”

“Scary Fanny.  As in life …”

Antique Rose Gromit is Here for this Weekend

Thanks to Yate Supplies, Antique Rose Gromit has made it to the Cotswolds once again for his annual weekend break.

He’s here to raise money for the Grand Appeal and to help draw in people for an exhibition of Bernard’s Barrels in a country pub setting. Bernard makes a range of furniture, planters and water features out of solid-oak Bordeaux wine barrels – he also supplied them for the Long John Silver Trust’s recent Treasure Island Trail.
