The Cradock’s Menu

We only have a few vacancies for our two Cradock’s events – Saturday 21st May is now full but we still have a few left for Friday 20th May.

For those who don’t know, the dinner intersperses the performance – the first act sees Fanny and Johnnie prepare the Prawn Cocktail, the second sees them struggling with the chicken and then the third …

Starter

Prawn Cocktail or Baked Stuffed Tomato

Mains

Coq-au-Vin or Mushroom Stroganoff

Dessert

Black Forest Gateaux

Their last performance review was by Sheila Dillon (she presents Radio 4’s Food Programme & is generally deemed a bit iconic). She saw the Cradocks in the marquee at Food Connections on 29 April, loved it and Tweeted about it.  I’ve just pulled out her comments and here they are:-

“Brill theatre”

“What a great evening”

“What an experience”

“Scary Fanny.  As in life …”

Antique Rose Gromit is Here for this Weekend

Thanks to Yate Supplies, Antique Rose Gromit has made it to the Cotswolds once again for his annual weekend break.

He’s here to raise money for the Grand Appeal and to help draw in people for an exhibition of Bernard’s Barrels in a country pub setting. Bernard makes a range of furniture, planters and water features out of solid-oak Bordeaux wine barrels – he also supplied them for the Long John Silver Trust’s recent Treasure Island Trail.

Bernard’s Barrels at the Beaufort!

Next month we’ve a special treat in the guise of Antique Rose Gromit coming on holiday to us again – this time for the weekend of April 9th and 10th – and supporting Treasure Island Trail supplier Bernard’s Barrels.

Bernard’s taking the opportunity of following Antique Rose Gromit up the A46 to show off his fabulous wares in the Cotswolds!

As well as this ad’ in April’s edition of Boundary Magazine, you’ll also see editor Angie’s Q & A session with the stars of May’s theatrical production of the Cradock’s in the Beaufort. Don’t miss it!

Finally, thanks once again to Yate Supplies for enabling us to have another opportunity to help contribute to Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal.

New Market Garden at the Beaufort

Exciting times for the Beaufort Arms as PROPS are about to expand their operations in the pub.

As well as tending the Treasure Island Trail for the pubs favourite charity, the Long John Silver Trust, PROPS tend the pubs car park and beer garden.

This March they’ll be expanding their work with the addition of a “PROPS at the Beaufort Market Garden”.

Waste land in front of our railway wagon store will now be growing space for PROPS produce.

We shall be installing a concrete path and raised bed for wheelchair users and then fencing everything in to deter pooches.

More news as work progresses… but this is one of the best things the Beaufort has ever done!

Fund Raisers for Beaufort Arms Favourite Causes

January saw two fund raisers for a couple of the Beaufort’s favourite
causes – St Wulfstan (the first to get slavery banned in Bristol in the 11th
Century) and the Long John Silver Trust.

The first managed to raise £100 for St Mary’s Church, Hawkesbury, on the
occasion of Wulfstan’s Saints Day (January 19th) with a banquet in his
honour in the pub.

The second, on Thursday 28th January, with a brewery visit to Cotswold
Spring’s and Severn Vale’s magnificent new home at Tortworth which raised £80 for
LJST (thanks mostly to their generosity).

The picture shows our very own Bishop of Wigan, Stan
Fillingham, getting a chair lift at the brewery with bearers Tony Harcourt
and brewery owner Mark Francombe.

Stan and Tony also appeared at our Wulfstan feast which featured Steve
Hammond’s picture / music compilation of the famous Wulfstan Windows.

Many thanks to all who attended and contributed to the two events. On the
latter we had a terrific reception at the Salutation at Ham and once again
Westward Travel ably provided the transport.

Beer expert Tom Salt provided the picture – thanks again,

Mark the landlord.
